THE PROBLEM
Threats aren't always obvious.
Fake login pages, phishing messages, reused passwords, and misleading links can trick anyone. People should not have to be technology experts to learn basic ways to protect themselves.
03 / THE CAUSE
AWARENESS IS YOUR FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE
I believe cybersecurity awareness matters because so much of our lives happens online. A few practical habits can make it harder for scammers and attackers to steal information, take over accounts, or harm others.
THE PROBLEM
Fake login pages, phishing messages, reused passwords, and misleading links can trick anyone. People should not have to be technology experts to learn basic ways to protect themselves.
WHY I CARE
As I study computer science and explore cybersecurity, I want to help make technology safer and easier to understand. Sharing simple, useful information can help friends, families, and communities make safer choices online.
THE ACTION PLAN / START HERE
Use a different, strong password for every important account. A reputable password manager can help.
Add another verification step to email, banking, social media, and other important accounts.
Check the sender and the actual destination of links. Be suspicious of unexpected urgency, threats, or prizes.
Install operating system, browser, and app updates so known security weaknesses can be fixed.
Think before posting private details, sharing verification codes, or granting apps unnecessary permissions.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Talk with friends and family about scam messages, help someone enable multifactor authentication, and report suspicious messages through the appropriate service.
